About Eric Gendron
As a native of New Hampshire, I have lived in the state my entire life, holding residence in 7 unique towns over the years. After attending the University of New Hampshire for Mechanical Engineering, I settled in the historic seacoast city of Portsmouth where I currently live and work. Photography has always been an interest of mine and like most people I started out casually taking pictures with a simple point-and-shoot camera. One day I decided that I was going to turn my passion into a full-time hobby, and I haven’t looked back. I purchased my first entry level DSLR camera and began learning as much as I could.
My pictures are somewhat unique in the fact that I tend to use more processing than the purists would recommend. Maybe it’s because I grew up during the computer age, but part of the fun for me is finding ways in which technology can be used to enhance a shot, adding to the emotional impact. Because of this, my work often takes on a surreal quality. Most of my subjects can be found around the New England coast, but I’m always exploring new areas and enjoy capturing scenes in an interesting way that hasn’t been tried before. Above all, I think the best part of photography is having somebody truly enjoy a shot and all the work that went into it. It’s especially rewarding if I’m able to transport the viewer to that spot, even for a moment.
